Roofing ITO
Skills are our partner and ITO (Industry Training Organisation) for training in our industry.
Their role is to set industry standards in consultation with RANZ. This means that our qualifications are registered with NZQA and that the qualifications are nationally recognised.
Skills liaise with training providers to provide the training and training materials that are not completed “on the job”. Further into the training journey there are block courses that trainees have to attend.
Skills also provide support for trainees who have learning difficulties or who are not confident with numeracy and literacy.
Skills and RANZ meet regularly to progress industry training. Suitability of training materials, qualifications reviews, resource allocations, funding, access to training, employer liaison, mentoring and career pathways are some of the points being worked on.
It is imperative that people train staff so that we have a sustainable industry. We cannot rely on others to do the training-we all should contribute.
